Bookkeeper – Entry Level Accounting Clerk

Entry Level Accounting Clerk Overview

The Entry Level Accounting Clerk is responsible for general accounts receivable and accounts payable activities in a business technology company with an outstanding work environment.

Day-to-day, the duties include recording and applying payments, reconciling account balances, researching discrepancies, making collection calls, and interacting electronically and verbally with a mix of on-site and remote-based individuals.

Work Schedule: Part-time (~4 hours per day)

The Entry Level Accounting Clerk is responsible for general accounts receivable and accounts payable activities in a business technology company with an outstanding work environment.

Day-to-day, the duties include recording and applying payments, reconciling account balances, researching discrepancies, making collection calls, and interacting electronically and verbally with a mix of on-site and remote-based individuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review customer accounts for accuracy and identification of irregularities
Posts customer payments by recording checks, ACH and wire payments
Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating necessary information
Follow up on delinquent accounts to solicit payments in a consistent and timely manner
Enter necessary purchase orders
Process receipts against outstanding line items on purchase orders
Review / enter incoming vendor invoices
Other duties may be assigned as necessary
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years’ experience in accounts payable / accounts receivable
Great attention to detail and accuracy
Experience with QuickBooks Pro or QuickBooks Enterprise
Solid skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
Exemplary time management and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and multitask between tasks
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be careful, orderly, and detail-oriented to avoid making errors and to recognize errors made by others.

Must be proficient and knowledgeable in all areas of payables and receivables and records management.
Maintain confidentiality of company and client records and information.
Strong aptitude for numbers.

Ability to maintain an above-average level of accuracy.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Possess a self-starter personality with the ability to multitask and prioritize issues based on severity.
Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional, and effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of correspondence, reports, and forms.

Ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, evaluations; and to respond to common inquiries or complaints using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.

Ability to effectively present information to a variety of diverse audiences with poise, voice control, and confidence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide; utilize decimals and percentages; and to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and minimum required automobile insurance.
