Clinical Manager, Respiratory Therapy

This is a Full-time position in Anaheim, CA posted June 22, 2022.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. Maintains contracts between American Career College and quality clinical sites, including obtaining renewal signatures, explaining unique requirements of a clinical site, and terminating contracts with clinic sites unable to provide appropriate clinical education. Notifies COARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) upon termination or addition of clinical sites.

Places, monitors and supervises all student clinical assignments, ensuring that all program clinical educational objectives are met.

Identifies clinical sites which support the student clinical requirements.

Assists with identifying and developing new professional relationships for additional/new clinical sites.

Develops and maintains professional working relationships with hospital, medical office, and clinical site directors under current contract to the schools.

Maintains on-going contact with existing contracts and ensures positive long-term relationships with employers.

Maintains accurate clinical site information database, including contact information and specific contractual agreement termination and expiration dates, and initiates renewal process timely.

Evaluates insurance and liability issues related to clinical sites, and provides appropriate documentation.

Collects and maintains appropriate documentation related to clinical education, such as health forms, CPR certification, student evaluations and site evaluations.

Advises the Program Director of the general effectiveness of the clinical education portion of the program and makes recommendations as needed.

Assists the program staff/instructors to maintain program accreditation, especially related to meeting standards for clinical education.

Provides clinical instructors with training related to the program and evaluates the effectiveness of clinical instructors.

Responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of clinical experience for students.

Supervises faculty and students completing clinical rotations, including phone or on site visits, mediating conflicts, establishing specific learning objectives, grading of assignments, determining and recording attendance, and assigning grades.

Coordinates a plan to best observe, instruct, and evaluate students learning and clinical practical skills and faculty performance which includes a direct observation clinical assessment of skills in applicable setting for related area of instruction.

Establishes and maintains communication lines between the clinical facilities and staff and ACC.

Evaluates clinical affiliate to ensure that student learning experience is adequate and the level of performance/service at the clinical site is achieving the programs objectives.

Works with clinical affiliate staff to clarify policies and procedures specific to facility.

Maintains/ensures positive clinical affiliation relationships and responds to concerns/issues in a timely manner.

Validates with clinical affiliate staff the effectiveness of student placement and progress in meeting mutually established objectives.

Identifies key clinical affiliate staff to be utilized as role models/mentors.

Attends Advisory and Faculty meetings to network and derive solutions to mutual concerns.

Ensures clinical faculty utilizes care planning time to direct students to available resources needed for clinical preparation.

Ensures clinical faculty assess student knowledge & skill level in order to promote safety & optimal care to patients assigned at the clinical site.

Ensures clinical faculty provides periodic feedback of clinical performance immediately after observation event and/or of overall student performance at midterm and end of semester.

Assists in classroom instruction or clinical instruction of students as needed. Teach Clinical preceptors on standard grading throughout all clinical sites. Ensure accuracy of inter-rater reliability of standard grading.

Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.

Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.

Adheres to College policies and procedures and acts as a role model to all staff and students through guidance and example.

Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.

Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College s Code of Ethical Conduct, Compliance Agreement, Sexual Harassment Policy or any of its policies and procedures, applicable federal and states laws, and applicable professional standards.

Maintains established department policies, procedures and attends in-services and other required meetings.

Maintains confidentiality of all student, associate, and/or college information as required.

Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.

Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work.

May perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

A minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).

Must be a graduate from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital- based program) in the specialty field or subject area.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) State and/or National programmatic certification/licensure required.

Current CPR Card.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Must have a minimum of four (4) years teaching or occupational experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which at least two (2) years must include experience in clinical respiratory care.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience in teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.

Knowledgeable of medical community and established relationships with its professional members preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with or in clinical sites, placing students, and coordinating related documents preferred.

Must demonstrate training in educational methods, testing and evaluation and evidence strength in instructional methodology, delivery and techniques as indicated by evaluation by supervisory personnel within 30 days of beginning instruction.

Knowledgeable of education standards such as Title IV, ABHES, CoARC, BPPE, and other accreditation standards preferred.

Experience with MS Office.
