We are looking for a Pharmacy Operations Manager for HCS PIPS Anaheim Indirect at Home Care Services.Location: Anaheim, CaliforniaWork Schedule: Full Time – 80 Biweekly HoursShift: 8-hour, DaysJob Summary:Under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible the pharmacy operations with ultimate responsibility for achieving financial, quality and service goals. Responsible for cost-effective, efficient, and safe pharmacy department management as well as the safe and effective use of medications for all patients and clients served, while remaining compliant with all applicable State and Federal regulations, professional practice, and accreditation standards. As a department leader, successfully engages staff, acts as a mentor, and exhibits the mission and values of Providence St. Joseph Health on a daily basis.Essential Functions:* Leads and mentors staff to effect outstanding pharmacy services. Accountable for oversight of home infusion operations, and sterile compounding services. Develops and maintains applicable staffing models and productivity reports for pharmacy business lines.* Assures ongoing efficiency, appropriateness, safety, and effectiveness of pharmacy systems. Regularly and systematically assesses, and when necessary, develops and implements plans of action to accomplish required change and vigilantly reassesses outcomes to meet or exceed operational, quality, and financial expectations and benchmarks.* Reviews key operational and financial criteria used to assess operational and financial performance. Refines criteria, if necessary to capture measurable performance expectations and outcomes going forward.* Prepares, and/or assists in the preparation of annual operations and capital budgets in collaboration with the Director. Manages departmental budget to achieve efficient operations of the pharmacy department while achieving operating budget neutrality. Creates and implements immediately any and all action plans when budget expectations are not met.* In concert with key ministry strategic plans, identifies strategic department objectives in collaboration with Director. Once approved, develops action plans and timelines to operationalize and achieve or exceed anticipated targets.* Collaborates with the Nursing agency administration and Quality Coordinator to maintain the organization’s policy and procedure manual related to the safe and effective control, handling, distribution, utilization, administration, and monitoring medications and equipment, to assure they reflect current practice, current professional best-known ways, and all regulatory requirements with the goal of achieving operational excellence and accountability of medications and equipment. Implements and monitors compliance with policies.* Assures consistent compliance with all State and Federal regulations, professional practice standards, safety standards, and guidelines including but not limited to: USP, TJC standards; HITECH/HIPPA; FDA, OSHA, and NIOSH guidelines. Anticipates and plans for the impact of practice and regulatory changes.* Participates in Administrative On-Call.* Demonstrates a high level of credibility, reliability, and responsiveness with all customers, direct reports, and contacts both inside and outside Infusion Pharmacy.* Participates in departmental and agency error reporting and QA/QI activities through data collection, evaluation, investigation; implements action plans to address identified QA/QI concerns. Approaches problems and planning from a broad perspective in order to achieve and maintain highest quality services.* Accountable for developing, managing, and evaluating processes that assure continued competency of all technical and professional staff. Participates in the professional education of the medical, pharmacy and nursing staff as well as periodic and annual evaluations of direct reports. Assures that education of patients, patients’ families, and the community served meets the needs of those populations.* Meets annual education requirements, including OSHA and NIOSH requirements for initial and annual education concerning bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials handling. Knows and practices effective infection control measures.* Assures implementation of and compliance with department and Providence policies and procedures.Skills:* Excellent organizational, problem solving, planning, collaboration, and leadership skills.* Excellent oral and written communication skills.* Ability to multitask and effectively handle multiple situations.* Attention to detail and accuracy.* Ability to interact with a wide variety of people and to develop relationships.* Strong knowledge and experiential base in clinical practice.* Working, knowledge of pharmacy laws as they pertain to legal prescriptions, dispensing of drugs, and pharmacist responsibilities.* Demonstrated working knowledge of USP standards, practice standards, and state and federal regulatory requirements applicable to sterile compounding and home infusion pharmacy operations.* Strong working knowledge and experiential base in pharmacy practice operations and systems.* Working knowledge and skills using pharmacy information systems, automated compounding systems and equipment, and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.* Demonstrated local and/or national visibility.* Knowledge of home infusion pharmacy services, sterile compounding operations (USP <797>, <800>), and applicable quality standards.* Knowledge of California Board of Pharmacy laws and regulations for community pharmacy and sterile compounding licensing.Minimum Position Requirements:Education: PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy.Experience:* Six (6) years Related work experience.* Four (4) years Supervisory or management experience.* Experience in home infusion pharmacy services, sterile compounding operations (USP <797>, <800>), and applicable quality standards.Licenses/Certifications: Current, valid license to practice pharmacy in California.Preferred Position Qualifications:Education: Coursework/Training – Training in Six Sigma and LEAN.Experience:* Two (2) years Home care experience with clinical responsibilities.* Systems improvement experience.Providence Home Care is a trusted leader in home health, hospice and infusion pharmacy, helping clients throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire receive the quality care they need in the comfort of their home.
