General Manager I – Automation

JOB SUMMARY

Direct and manage the day-to-day automation operations of a given facility, assuming overall responsibility for financial success, staffing, production, quality and customer satisfaction.

Establish business plans that aim towards improving competitive edge, profitability, and quality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs the overall operation of an automation facility.
  • Manage and give direction to the Automation teams – Engineering (Software, Controls and Mechanical), Sales and Production.
  • Assesses a variety of situations and provide clarity to team and stakeholders.
  • Anticipates and tracks operational and tactical risks and providing strategic solutions.
  • Establish business plans aimed towards continued quality, safety, and cost improvement.
  • Determine price structure for produced parts.
  • Oversee management review of systems and encourage continues improvement, proactive management and teamwork.
  • Ensure that facility is properly staffed and trained.
  • Represents facility to potential customers, clients, and at corporate meetings.
  • Financial decision maker regarding orders accepted, purchase of equipment, tools, materials, and staffing.
  • Bears overall responsibility for housekeeping of facility and safety awareness.
  • Communicate plant financial & operational condition to Corporate as required.
  • Manage the operations cost to enhance profitability while staying within legal guidelines and company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the strategy and long-term planning of the operations to ensure continued success in meeting customer expectations.
  • Encourage team members to maintain an in-depth field of experience and knowledge regarding emerging electronic, manufacturing and materials management technologies.
  • Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement.

    Identify and implement new practices and processes that are “best in field.”

  • Coordinating different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunities
  • Identifying potential problems and points of friction and working to find solutions in order to maximize efficiency and revenue
  • Identifying opportunities to expand or shift course in order to take advantage of changes in the market
  • Oversees and reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics.
  • Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives.
  • Solicits and responds to feedback while gaining commitment and support.
  • Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

· In depth knowledge of GMP and quality systems.

· Experienced in using the following software packages;
– Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Microsoft Project .

· Ability to build and leverage partnerships, implement change and manage projects;.

· Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

· Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

· Strong knowledge of global and regional logistics operations and industry.

· Strong proficiency in determining logistics requirements to enable company’s business goals and objectives with ability to devise and implement strategy to achieve targets.

· Strong financial and analytical ability.

Proficiency in managing business analytics to determine optimum company footprint.

· Strong knowledge of international direct and indirect taxes as well as global customs regimes.

· Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.

· Strong and convincing communication skills

· Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

· 10 years experience

· Minimum 5 years previous experience managing in a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastics

· Previous experience with price structuring and job costing.

· Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
