Software Engineering Manager

Job Description The engineering manager’s primary areas of responsibility are ensuring that we constantly improve our people and technology. The engineering managers will be responsible for all resources in each technology or product area. The engineering manager’s time will be divided as 40% project related work and 60% in HR responsibilities and improvement areas. The 40% project work should not be primarily working on concrete tasks from the project backlog, but rather overseeing the proper technical implementation of our projects and helping development engineers when needed. (Providing technical guidance, monitoring proper execution, code reviews, best practices, etc) Required Skills Functional and technical architectural knowledge of the products we integrate Knowledge of the technologies used in these products Knowledge of the existing customer base and specific requirements. Functions, interfaces, etc. Knowledge of the product development leads and members, as well as product management teams Knowledge of the product roadmaps and specifically the roadmap items targeted to engineering efficiencies Ability to analyze project requirements and provide accurate labor estimates Knowledge of peers in CI and PSI and the methods used by these teams Ability to analyze and suggest areas of improvement in our products that would ease delivery Ability to monitor and analyze our technical methodology and suggest improvements and best practices. Ability to analyze the skills of direct reports and appoint SMEs or suggest improvement actions Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree 5-7 Years of related experience Additional Information This employer may require employee, contingent labor, consultant, and contractor depending on role to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date, subject to approved medical or religious exemptions.
