Maintains and works in a safe, reliable, cost effective manufacturing operation to produce the required product volumes, with full regard for health, safety and stakeholder concerns. Installs, maintains, repairs and troubleshoots all mechanical, hydraulic, electric equipment and instrumentation. Oversees the design, development and maintenance of operations information systems to monitor manufacturing efficiency. Coordinates and integrates the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers. This job family is intended to accommodate 1) jobs whose accountabilities span two or more job families within the job group; 2) jobs that are not covered by a defined job family within the job group; 3) managerial roles spanning more than one family that are not broad enough in scope and impact to be assigned to the Business Unit/General Management job family within the Management job group.Job Requirements:SUMMARYThis is a Production Lead position for the manufacturing floor related to injection molding. Associates at this level are trained in various areas of the department and must meet the basic qualifications of the job description. Is also responsible for working with Operations Supervision and Materials/Planning groups for all the aspects of scheduling, forecasting, planning, inventory level management, and customer service levels related to the Supply Chain and to directly support Work Order OTD and customer OTD.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Manage workflow and production priorities which includes directing molding production associates on task and assignments for the shift. This may also include the scheduling of work orders for the shift* Accountable for shift/area performance and ensure production schedules are met through optimum use of resources to maximize productivity* Communicate and Collaborate with Molding Technician, Setup Specialist, PMOs, Engineers, and in-house Tool Room.* Clearly inform pertinent information to Production Leads and MIM Associates from other shifts.* Responsible for setups / change overs of mold bases and modules according to setup guidelines.* Identify areas of improvement and train others.* Setup part handling robots and change end of arm tools.* Ability to select, upload, and download qualified molding program.* Perform first article inspection of molded parts using a microscope.* Ability to analyze part defects and make appropriate process adjustments as needed while following validated parameters as well as following good manufacturing practices* Ability to use decouple molding process to startup machines/molds as well as troubleshooting molded part defects* Ability to follow best manufacturing process to start up molding machine after it alarms. This includes proper clearing of parts or material from mold, addressing source of alarm, purging material, scrap part runoff and other practices to properly re-start machine in order to maintain molded part quality as well as ensure mold is not damaged* Be the point person for identifying and troubleshooting complex molding problems and distinguish between process issues and machine/tooling issues.* Submit molds to get cleaned by in house tool room based on shot count.* Ability to clean barrel and screw of injection molding machine.* Responsible for cleaning and troubleshooting of molds.* Responsible for purging and switching of materials.* Keep tool carts organized with necessary tools to perform setups.* Read and interpret 2D blueprint drawings.* Operate overhead crane to move molds to desired location.* Clean and maintain work areas (Molding Machine, Grinders, and other molding equipment) through Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and 5S.* Abide by defined plant and department safety policies, including personal protective equipment (PPE)* Other duties not explicitly listed may be assigned as needed. Any special instructions required will be issued at the time of assignment.* Able to meet daily production goals in regards to Safety, Quality, and Productivity.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Leadership and mentoring capabilityQUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION* High school degree or GED.EXPERIENCE* Minimum 7 Years Experiences as a Molding Technician in high volume injection molding environment* Minimum 1 Year Experience as Lead or SupervisorPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Molding or other technical certifications preferred.* Strong understanding of injection molding concepts and processing, i.e. scientific molding, process control, filling vs. pack/hold.* Good understanding of molding machines operations in general. Ability to identify the function of each component in the molding process. i.e. screw and barrel, check-ring, heating zones, thermolators.* Keen eye sight and comfortable working with microscopes and small, delicate parts* Experience with robotics or automation systems a plus.* Ability to understand and interpret 2D engineering drawings, particularly tight product tolerances.* Experiences in FDA regulated shop environment a plus.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
