Job Summary: The L ead Jig Builder are r esponsible for determining methods and sequence of operations and scheduling work to be performed from tool design drawings.

They assemble a variety of standard and non-standard major jigs, fixtures and related tooling.

Ensure the jigs function appropriately with complex angles or contours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Leads Jig Builders and maintains the day to day on-site and off-site schedules and processes for fabrication.

R eview s new job prints and folder information before assigning to Jig Builders to ensure the data is complete.

E nsur es the Jig Builders clearly understand the requirements and expectations to meet the job due date and budget.

E nsuring Quality is built into every assigned Tool being built by their group.

Operate equipment in a safe manner and uses safe work habits.

Designs and creates jig and fixture details and holding devices Plans, determines methods, sequence of operations, makes layouts, fabricates, and assembles complex tools and dies.

Constructs all types of sizes of major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges and related tooling .

Prepares breakdown of jigs and fixtures, tool masters or master tooling gauges into components.

Determines methods and sequences of fabrication and assembly, performs the final setup and assembly of components, details and accessories and follows such tools through to completion and sell-off.

Demonstrates a complete understanding of the principles and use of applicable optical equipment and computer aided measuring equipment such as laser trackers.

Fabricate, and prove optical and mechanical accessories to adapt and modify optical instruments and similar equipment used in building and checking major tooling.

Fabricates tools without benefit of tool designs, working to standard tool manufacturing practice and procedure.

Makes tools and dies without the aid of tool designs.

Sets up and operates power machine tools and accessories for the machining of tools and dies.

Lay out, fabricate, and assemble a variety of standard and nonstandard major jigs, fixtures, tool masters, master tooling gauges and related tooling by analyzing drawings, sketches, models and engineering or company specifications.

Recommends revisions in designs and/or substitutions in material based upon project requirements.

Performs assignments that range from the use of ordinary operations to performing work involving accurate relationships and extremely close tolerances.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required.

Work Experience Requirements : Ten year s of related experience and/or training .

Proficient in Laser trackers software.

Experience with Catia V5 or other solid modeling programs .

Work Conditions: Environment Type : Indoors.

Production and office environment.

Temperature controlled, unless products and/or equipment is located outdoors .

Physical Demands : Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.

Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

Operate a motor vehicle and/or heavy equipment.

Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.

Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.

Read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.

Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and operation of machines.
