Job Description
Prep, tray, and splice fiber optic cables and ability to distinguish colors
Identify and access fibers in an existing splice enclosure
Perform mid-sheath and splicer fibers in an active network
Respond to network outages and perform required repairs • Ability to fusion splice and prep SM ribbon and loose tube fiber optic cables, to include or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC)
Experience using Fujikura FSM-50s,60S & 70R
Experience with Passive Optical Networking (PON) a strong plus
Strong customer service and verbal communication skills
Utilize optical testing equipment such as OTDR, OLM, Power Meter, Fiber Identifier, and Fiber Scope
Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues
Follow fiber splicing documentation and analyze complex schematic drawing
Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations
Complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete “as-built maps” for areas built and track daily production
Maintain safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations
