1.Review, coordinate, and assign work orders to Machinists.2.Monitor and cross-check actual performance for conformance with work schedules and quality standards.3.Work closely with Production Scheduler to coordinate work orders to meet customer delivery expectations.4.Inform Production Manager of any personnel, quality, material, or safety issues.5.Keep Production Manager informed on production issues that may need to be elevated to Engineering Group and work with Engineering to resolve problems.6.Assist the Manufacturing Manager with hiring by interviewing and testing candidates.7.Participate in company-wide Continuous Process Improvement Program and encourage subordinates to submit change initiatives.

Examples of Essential Functions (continued): 8.Participate in the set up, programming and operation of automated CNC equipment, manually operated mills and lathes, and other work center equipment.9.Coordinate repair, maintenance, and calibration of cable equipment with Industrial Engineering or the Manufacturing Manager.10.Work with Engineering and Quality personnel to upgrade documentation of procedures to improve efficiency and resolve quality problems.11.Assist the Manufacturing Manager with the preparation of performance appraisal reviews.12.Assist the Production Manager with vacation planning and addressing employee absences.13.Participate in the training of existing and new employees.14.Review and confirm status of work orders in SAP and inventory control system.15.Maintain the Machine Shop Kanban program and inventory requirements.16.Stage completed products in appropriate areas.17.Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators to assure that machined parts meet specifications.18.Record completed work orders and follow company procedures.

Qualifications Guidelines Background Education/Training: High School Diploma and or a GED are required Experience/Certification: Four years of machining experience is required, including the use of CNC lathes and milling equipment.

Some prior work involving the use of G code, Mazatrol, and related CNC programs and CAD software is required.

Some prior lead experience is desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of work organization and layout and leadership methods and techniques.

Knowledge of equipment design and trouble-shooting practices.

Knowledge of CNC programs related to the operation of computerized engine lathes and mills.

Knowledge of CNC and manual machining methods and safety practices.

Knowledge of feed rates and processing speeds for various jobs.

Knowledge of machinery maintenance procedures.

Knowledge of math, computer logic, geometry, and measuring procedures.

Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and use of standard measurement tools.

Knowledge of safe procedures for handling hazardous materials.

Knowledge of SAP and inventory control procedures.

Knowledge of record keeping practices and procedures.

Operate personal computer to utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and specialized applications.

Set up and operate CNC and manual engine lathes and milling equipment.

Work effectively with engineering, quality, and manufacturing staff to set up new equipment and modify applications, and to investigate and resolve machining problems.

Read and understand prints, manufacturing procedures, and instructions.

Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Work effectively with management, supervisors, and co-workers.
