Mortgage Collection Specialist

Position Summary:

The Mortgage Collection Specialist will be primarily responsible for managing a delinquent loan portfolio and reaching out to consumers to build rapport while obtaining their intentions regarding the property and their ability to repay the delinquency. The specialist will collect payments on delinquent loans, negotiate repayment plans, and educate consumers on options to avoid future delinquency and foreclosure including, but not limited to, a Deed in Lieu, Short Sale, and/or Loan Modification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review loan status and priority notes prior to contact attempt
• Contact past due consumers via phone
• Inform consumer of past due amount
• Document each conversation and action on Loan Servicing System in detail
• Skip trace as needed to locate consumer
• Negotiate payment arrangements to bring past due loans current
• Discuss loss mitigation options offered by Investor and gauge level of interest from consumer
• Send collection letters and late notices as required

Education and Skills:

• Minimum three years Collections/Loss Mitigation experience
• Proven track record in the Mortgage collection industry
• High School diploma
• Knowledge of FDCPA and CFPB
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superior listening skills
• Outstanding problem solving and negotiation skills
• Superb attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
• Fluent in English and Spanish preferred
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $28.00 per hour
