Accounts Payable Supervisor

For more information about GMS, visit www.gms.com or any one of our subsidiary company websites.Duties & Responsibilities:* Complete financial statements on a monthly basis* Communicate with officers and satellite location managers concerning financial statements and provide detail for review* Review current internal controls at both satellite and corporate level and implement approved procedures to correct any deficiencies* Oversee the annual financial statement audit with external auditors* Assure that corporate income, sales, withholding tax, property tax and other governmental returns and reports are filed on a timely basis* Assure that all tax payments are made to the proper taxing authority on a timely basis.* Review and maintain the fixed assets ledger and perform physical inventories of assets on an annual basis* Reconcile subsidiary ledgers to trial balance on a monthly basis, investigate any differences and make corrections* Assist with preparation of annual operating and capital budget* Analyze variances between the Actual vs. Budget amounts on a monthly basis* Know payroll preparation process, including direct deposits, tax deposits, and tax forms, insurance, deductions, etc.* Perform A/P and A/R processes* Detailed understanding of the credit management process* Strong understanding of inventory management: inventory turns, days in inventory, obsolete inventory, and surplus inventoryOther Competencies:* Ability to self-manage, show initiative and solve problems* Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to coworkers and customersBasic Qualifications:* Bachelor’s Degree emphasis in Accounting or Finance* Minimum of 5 years of related work experience* Strong MS office skills* Advanced skills in Excel* Demonstrated knowledge of all general and advanced accounting proceduresPhysical Demands:* Must be able to remain in stationary position 80%* Frequently, will move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.* Must be able to communicate with team and management to exchange accurate information in these situations Constantly working in office environmentMental Demands:* Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks* Must be able to manage stress depending on deadlines* Must be able to multitask* Must be able to quickly receive and analyze financial information* Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of sound judgement and initiativeCompany Benefits:* Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability & Life Insurance* 401k* Paid holidays & vacation daysThis job description is subject to change at any time.Launch your career with a national building materials distributor and discover opportunities for growth and advancement.
