– Energy Systems unit is seeking a Statewide Technical Sales Manager
– Outreach to join our Program Development Implementation (PDI) team in California, which serves utilities across the state through the implementation of energy efficiency programs.

This is a key role helping our district in the management of a distributed team for an innovative new statewide program across California to increase the promotion and sale of efficient water heating technologies.nn nn nn nnThis position reports to the CA Program Director and is based in the San Diego, Anaheim, or Oakland, California office or a remote office within CA.

Tasks May Include nn Managing 5 Technical Sales
– Outreach Professionals to ensure program Key Performance Indicators are met Planning, facilitating, and leading large meetings, trainings, and PR events Providing management support for marketing/sales meetings and events conducted by junior sales / outreach professionals Writing / executing sales plans and collaborating with program marketing teams Continuing, establishing, and managing relationships with manufacturers and their representatives Understanding distributor business models and the relationship with trade allies Eliciting distributor feedback and providing solutions that support their needs Clearly communicating the value proposition to the distributor Understanding the distributor’s ROI, and knowing their business drivers with respect to established and emerging water heating technologies Effectively coordinating education of distributors, trade allies, contractors, and manufacturers’ representatives about the program Demonstrating appropriate application of program policies and procedures Providing consistent coordination of team members under tight deadlines with accuracy Maintaining knowledge of current and emerging high efficiency water heating equipment Position Qualifications nn Requirements nn Bachelor’s degree or 12 year of experience Proven track record of managing a team of 5-10 outreach/sales professionals Minimum 10 years in distributor/manufacturer service or sales (a concentration in water heating, preferred but not required) Established contacts within distributor network in the state of California Extensive knowledge of and experience with plumbing and/or HVAC distributors Understanding of established and emerging water heating product lines and technologies in today’s market Proven track record in sales, leads generation, including mentorship of junior sales / outreach professionals Demonstrated experience in setting and adjusting Key Performance Indicator goals and managing program participants to reach goal Expert level knowledge of CRM software for project and lead tracking (e.g., MS Dynamics / Salesforce) Working knowledge of California Investor Owned Utility programs, regulations, and geographic service territories Skills to leverage collaboration tools, manage workflow and establish effective stakeholder communication Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite including pivot tables, simple look ups, and data visualizations in Excel Capability of providing instruction of program tools to internal staff and external stakeholders Travel up to 50-70% locally and within California Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; the ability to travel to and from all appointments in timely and professional manner Routine bending, lifting, and reaching consistent with office work We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening nn Preferred Qualifications nn Bachelor’s degree Experience in energy efficiency, technical sales, B2B, or construction industry sales Understanding or experience with California Utility Program Implementations including upstream, midstream, and downstream channels Knowledge of CA Title 20 Efficiency requirements, and AHRI certifications nn nn nn**Immigration-related benefits (for example, visa sponsorship) are not available for this position** Opportunities Beyond Business Our mission is to safeguard life, property and the environment.
