OverviewActively processes, or ensures the accurate processing of, all data processing input and output activities, as well as other functions relating to the department which are deemed necessary by management personnel.
Assist global users in business systems software applications as well as AS/400 hardware and system peripherals.ResponsibilitiesCore Accountabilities:* Process and monitor daily, weekly, monthly and yearly processing, including backups as required by procedures and frequency.* Monitor system and user jobs in an effective manner.
Including reacting and responding in a timely fashion to the System messages as necessary.* Maintain documentation and logs of daily operations of current I.T.
system(s), including operating systems functions, software applications and system peripherals.
Support nightly, monthly, yearly processing, backups, special projects and emergencies.* Support and backup other Operators, including shift changes as needed.* Analyze user problems, advise and help users of the IT system when necessary.* Verify the availability and completeness of all output as well as distribute all output (reports, etc.), as necessary or directed.
If output is sensitive data, be sure to have appropriate written approval according to I.T.
Security Policies and Pacific Sunwear Security Policies.* Verify proper operating condition and specifications for System(s), printers, display stations, and other peripheral equipment.* Run all jobs, which require the attention of I.T.
personnel, unless directed otherwise.* Maintain accurate records of I.T.
supplies and order such when necessary.* Participate in system and application testing/upgrades, as required.* Assist in training of users, as requested by management.* In addition to the performance of the job responsibilities, mentioned above, this position may be required to perform supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based on the particular requirements of the operation.QualificationsEducation/Experience Required:The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:* 2 years of operations experience in a multi-system environment that includes multiple IBM iSeries (AS/400) systems, AIX, and Windows servers.
Good communication skills and team player attitude required.* High School diploma required, college degree a plus.* Having certifications in IBM Power systems Operation or any other IT related areas a plus.* Excellent oral and written communication skills* Full flexibility to work any shift and hours* Knowledge of backup solutions such as BRMS and TSM* Knowledge of job schedulers such as Robot/SCHEDULE* Knowledge of IBM Tape Library operations* Other applications such as Operations Navigator, Island Pacific, Manhattan WM, and ServiceNow are a plus.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that are required by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.* While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear.
The associate is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; as well as reach with hands and arms.* The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.* Ability to work in open environment with fluctuating temperatures and standard lighting.* Ability to work on computer and mobile phone for multiple hours; with frequent interruptions.* Required to travel in elevator or stairwells to attend meetings and engage with associates on multiple floors throughout building.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position.
As a National Retailer, occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required during periods of high volume.
